Prague, Czech Republic

Made this karipap daging from scratch for the first time.

Anyway, here I would like to share the recent photos from my last trip to Prague, Czech Republic in April 2014

The trip was very sentimental for me.

Because when I was 8-9 years old,

a childhood friend of mine said she had already been to Prague when we both were flipping her family album together.

In one of her photos, they were taking picture against a wall with the word 'PRAGUE' written on it.

We saw the spelling on the wall behind them was P-R-A-G-U-E and pronounce it as 'Pra-gieu'

And we thought the spelling was odd so she went to her mom and ask her how to pronounce the word.

Her family had lived in Russia before so her mum was very fluent in Slavic language.

Her mum replied her that the name was a state and it was pronounce as PRA-GA or PRA-HA.

Both of us were making our odd faces at her mum.

Like, kalau PRA-GA, kenapa tak eja PRAGA je?

But because it was her mom who said it, so of course my friend chose to believe her mother.

I on the other hand, being the cocky child as I once was said to myself,

"Mak dia salah ni. Mistaken ejaan kot. Nanti Reena pergi sana Reena check"

As I grew up, I never forget this story.

My childhood friend remain as my good friend till this day

and her family has been nothing but dear to me all this past years.

And to be honest, I never even make a plan to go there, not even once.

The story sort of remain as a childhood memory.

Until one my schoolmate invited me to go on a trip to Prague and then there I was.

Witnessing the city with my own eyes and breathing the same air as other locals.

The whole time I was there, all I could think of was my childhood friend and our little conversation.

Syukur Ya Allah for allowing me to experience such a moment.

The trip has continue to be very personal for me.

Who knew such meaningless conversation of two children could turned up to a surreal moment in ones life.

I am always amazed by God graces to His servants.

Therefore, I would like to share few of my snapshot of the city with you darlings.

Ski-Trip

(Lets just keep my obvious weight gained in this picture to ourselves, shall we?)

Hoho.

Last weekend one of girlfriends invite me for an all girls-trip to Glenshee Ski Center, Scotland for a weekend ski retreat.

It was a six-hour journey from my place to the highland.

The outing was almost awesome if it weren't for the occasional ice bits hitting our faces to a numb state.

But then the experience was ethereal.

There goes one item to be scrape off from the bucket list.

Alhamdulillah.

What I learnt from these weekend trip was God will always reward you with echanted moments when you have full faith in Him and less expectation of your journey in life.

So let us all take a moment to let go of the unworthy things that holds us back and celebrates life as it is.

Hindi Movie in UK cinema

I was browsing online for The Hobbit movie in the cinema until I saw this add.

I was like what, cerita hindustan main kat sini. Say what!!!

Here's the trailer.

I wanted to watch the movie like sangat.

Being a hindustan addict myself, watching this movie in cinema is crucial.

They have Aamir Khan in it for God sake.

I don't need any other reason to convince me other than that.

Once I saw the screening time, I was set on going alone since who (non-indian I mean) would want to watch Hindi movies here right?

Even my besties didn't get this part of me, let alone here, in pekan Middlesbrough.

So I said to myself just go and watch alone since the cinema is like 15 mins walk from where I live.

The last time I catch a movie in the local cinema here is The Hunger Games on the third day after its release.

Given that we only bought the tickets like 5 mins before the movie started and surprise, surprise, the cinema wasn't even full.

Which is why I was confident enough that I didn't even need to book a ticket for this Hindi movie.

But to my dismay, when I arrived at the cinema 1 hour before the screening time,

the show was popping up SOLD OUT in red on the screening board.

I was devastated. Like spiraling down to my stomach-devastated.

How can the movie sold out? Like how?

Sedih sangat that I even blurred out to my girlfriends here about it.

And one of them who were so sweet said:

"Kalau awak nak ajak saya teman, boleh je"

Isn't she the sweetest?

*mata berair sikit*

I told her that I want to watch it soon and she said cool, lets go tomorrow.

We went arm and arm the next day and she took the liberty to booked the ticket as precaution.

When we finally got the tickets, I was ecstatic.

She said this was her first time watching Hindi Movie in a cinema, I told her not to worry cause this movie is definitely worth it

When we walked in the cinema, it was house-full and we're like the only non-indian in the room looking for our seats.

One of the Indian couple even look at us with

are-you-sure-you're-in-the-right-cinema look.

Haha.

Come to Malaysia darling, you and I we're share a country and the cinema.

Finally we managed to find a seat and settled down. Then Mira asked me a question

"Ada subtitle tak?"

Why in the hell did I not thought of that?

We both turned our head around and saw only Indians in the room.

The trailers that they played prior to the movie started has no subtitles on it.

My heart starts sinking.

Until we finally saw the word printed on the screen translating the language when the movie started.

And we both smile.

Thank heavens!

The first stunt in the movie got a laugh from half of the audience.

Its a scene where Aamir Khan was riding a bike steadily on a

single rubber rope (or rubber string, I don't know what they call it)

Even Mira laughes.

So I told her " Kalau nak tengok hindustan, tak boleh pakai akal, kena pakai hati"

But we can't help to laughed again at the next stunt.

Hehe.

Fun times.

And since the movie is like 3 hours long,

they have 15 minutes loo-break after the first one and half an hour.

When the movie ended, I was shock to hear when Mira said,

"Tunggu habis lagu closing ni baru balik"

I was just about to said the same thing but there you go.

I had managed to infect a friend with the hindustan awesomeness.

But all in all we had fun.

Finding hope with a run in the park

I'm going straight to the point.
I miss my people.

N and D obviously.

My colleagues from the place I'd previously worked at.

My team makan is next and the list goes on and on.

Now I'm in the time of the month where my hormones are up

so I get emotionally sensitive for no reason.

And I really miss those people bad.

I miss the weather in KL. The hot and humid KL.

Not that I don't love the weather here, but I just started to miss the heat very much.

The worst part of all is that I'm starting to have doubts about myself.

Like is it right for me to be here,

am I missing out something in life,

what if I don't have any friends for the next one year,

what if I'm making the wrong choice to be here,

what if I fail, what if I can't fit in here later and etc

I couldn't bare to let my sappy self dragging all day so

I went out for a run along the street that I never walk into till I found the park.

You see, the ducks are actually swimming towards me,
they thought I was bringing breakfast for them..
I felt sorry for coming empty-handed.
I would've brought you ducks something if I just knew you and the park exist here!

I'll be here with breads in my pockets next time ok my ducklings?

Seeing these ducks-pack ducking their head in water and swimming away,

made me feel I'm just so full of myself.

God has create these beautiful creatures and obviously has loads

to think about other than the selfish little me.

Like how His people and creations are getting by, their hopes,pains and sorrow.

And I am good and healthy, just emotionally distressed.

But here I am, acting as if the world must be glittery all the time for me.

I believe everything happen for a reason and I end up where I am in God's willing.

I just wish I'm a little bit stronger like I was once before.

I wish I could embrace whats in front of me rather than thinking the what if's.

I hope I'm able to let go of the past and enjoy the life I am destined to.

I hope, I hope, I hope..

Hee. Lot of I hopes there.

Regardless, the fate will happen in their own ways anyways.

Better as well learn to survive and let it be.

Just remember my dear self to always rise and pray

A day and two as an Indie Girl..

Self-snap. Takde kawan nak snap kan..

Hellooo people!

I'm gonna spill few stories about my days here in Middlesbrough.
A quick one.

I met my first hall-mate here at my hostel on my first day. She's a Caucasian. It took us only 2 seconds to exchange hello's and she already invite me to have a cup of tea with her and brought me around town to show me few ropes. We bought some food and toiletries at few supermarkets together.So I da ada kawan matsaleh sekarang..WINK
I did not experience any jet-lag. Sumpah pelik! Maybe I'm a different species or something
Over weekends most of the clothing shops has "weekend discount" up to 20%
Topshop outlets offer 20% discounts for students for ALL items at ALL times.
Their second hand shops offer quality items and are in really good shape. The sell coats, clothes, electrical stuff like tvs, fridge at half the price from the originals. Bought this coat for 20 Pounds. Its a good bargain isn't it?

Their main road in the streets where I live in is like what we call "jalan kecik" in Malaysia. So cute. Ada traffic light pulak tu. Hehe

Loads of halal food and supermarkets around here. So there will be no such thing as kebuluran for me. You can easily find kebab, pizza, lamb chops, and Indian food restaurant. These are my dining food so far. Alhamdulilah

This is what Brahim processed food look like, which I bought from Malaysia. Had that for lunch. Sedap!

Haven't been to the classes yet but the class timetable changes every week and has been outlined for the entire semester.

The have a shop called Poundland where they sell everything in 1 pound. Unlike Daiso, here they sell detergents, pots and pans, toiletries, food, chocolates with wide range of brands.
I'm not a fan of milk (except makan dengan cereals), but after tasted this Strawberry milk..memang sedap giler. It doesn't have that milky smell or taste. Its more like a mixture of strawberry and vanilla in a creamy liquid

On my second day I met with other Malaysians who invite me to their house for lunch. The host was the most nicest and accommodating Malaysian I have always dream to met. I nak snap more pics with them but it was my first visit there so..malu la. They served us Nasi Ayam (chicken rice), pavlova, keropok and fruit salad.
