New Job. First Week.

I find this quote hard to believe, consider what just happened during my first week on the job.

******************************************

Here it goes,
I just started a new job somewhere in Bangsar.
There's a lot to learn at the new workplace and luckily enough they provide training for us newbies.
Those who just started their first week on the job might say they were
all bored and the training courses are consider a honeymoon period.
But mine was filled with public humiliation moments.
SIGH

On my first day it started out ok.
There were little bit of self introduction.
I found out I was the oldest lady in my group.
Fine.
As long as the others don't call me kakak, I'm ok with it.

The morning of next day was a breeze.
Till at noon, I went for a coffee break and went to grab a hot milo from the vending machine.
While I try to take out my hot drink out of the machine, the drink spill!
There were 2 guys queuing behind me.
A complete public humiliation considering I was a newbie.
I didn't know what to do like how to call the cleaner?
Should I just leave it like that?
Then I saw a mop stick my the pantry and slowly drag them to the spilled area and mopped it.
All the while not looking up.
Then I just wash my hand.
Went to my work cubicle and not saying a word about it to my group.

The following day was the moment I would never forget in my entire career life.
I was so sleepy that day.
I have been bumping my head twice because I fell asleep on the computer screen.
Until at one point 3 of the guys from my group so me falling asleep on my chair with my mouth hang open!
My goodness.
It was only my third day there.
I became their joke for the rest of the day.

On Thursday, it was good.
I had a good lunch and everything went well in the office.
Until I have to rush for my night classes at British Council KL.
I finish my work at 5.45pm and the class started at 6.15pm.
So imagine me try to get to get myself on the train from Bangsar to KLCC in time,
I was practically running from Avenue K to British Council.
(When I say practically running means to walk really fast)
I had to say "Sorry" every 2 second to every person I hit along the way as I rush out the train station.
The rain was drizzling at that time.
I prayed not to slip while I ran.
It would be so embarrassing if I did.
Particularly when there were high traffic of cars by the road watching you saying
"Oppocot!" while you slipped.

So if you see a fat lady running from Avenue K, crossing the Menara Public Bank,
to NZ, to the Selangor Dredging building at 6.20pm,
Yup, its me.
I can imagine those people at NZ whispering,
"Kenapa budak gemuk ni lari-lari, kang pecah tiles divider tu"

I just continue running until I arrive breathlessly 6.25pm at the security check
and went into the class straight away.
I apologize to my lady instructor but she said:
"Its ok. No problem. I understand you are working. As long as you came, that's all"
 **tears streaming down my eyes**
"Thanks mam"

Then I sit down in a group and realized they were all using a text book.
I didn't bought the text book yet.
So I went down at the counter during a break and ask where can I bought the text book?
He said:
"Orang yang jual buku tu da balik harini.
Next week kena datang awal sikit la before kelas and beli buku tu."

Datang awal sikit? Whaat?

The last weekday was agony.
There's a lot of walking for me to get to the office from the train station.
So its important for me to wear a really comfort shoes.
I wore my comfortable leather loafers to the office which I bought 2 years ago.
As I arrived at the office, both of my feet were blistered by the shoes.
I said to myself its ok,it happens.
I just slapped on a Handiplast and all is well again
.
Then at noon, I heard a flapping sound from my shoes.
And I saw, the sole on of my shoes were dislodged!
Ya Allah. apakah ini semua?
Thank God no one sees it. I hope.
Slowly I just peeled out the sole and throw it away.
Then I went to lunch with one sole-less shoe, and it looks like I was limping when I walk.
Because the height of my shoe's sole was not equal each other since I peeled it out.
And my leg hurts while walking.
So I pull and peeled the other sole.
And voila. I was good again.
I pray that the shoes would last for the day before I put it right in the dumpster at home.
And it did last.
Minus the squishy sound it made when I walk on liquids.
The main thing is it survived!
Thank goodness.

That night I told dad bout the shoe story.
And guess what, he bought me couple pairs of comfort shoes.
Saying it was a birthday gift.
Thanks papa!

Lets just hope the new shoes survive my second week.
Bismillahirahmanirahim.
Dear Allah SWT,
May my days be as normal as it should be.
Amin.
